Dr Leanne Ashley hails from Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she embarked on her academic journey at Queen's University, earning a degree in Geology. However, her path took a dramatic turn when she decided to explore life in the military, graduating from the prestigious Royal Academy Sandhurst as a British Army Officer in 1996.
During her time in the Army, Leanne had the opportunity to traverse the globe, encountering diverse cultures and landscapes. She was deployed on missions to Bosnia and Kosovo, experiencing first-hand the complexities of conflict zones.
After another deployment to New Zealand she found her new home and decided to pivot towards a career in medicine and only par take in NZ military part time. Leanne later decided to retire formally as a captain. She pursued her medical degree at the university of Otago and later became a fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
While navigating her career as a GP in both the community, and Forensic Mental Health; Leanne discovered a passion for cosmetic medicine and skincare. This led her to pursue further specialisation in the field, culminating in her attainment of certification from the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine.
As demand for her expertise grew, so did her dedication to refining her skills and expanding her repertoire of treatments. This journey of exploration and commitment ultimately led to the establishment of Ashley Aesthetics, a boutique clinic in Wellington.
Leanne is passionate about expanding her repertoire in cosmetic medicine, she is a member of the international peeling society and holds a certificate of advanced dermoscopy.
Outside of her professional endeavours, Leanne is a devoted mother to two teenage girls and a cherished Pomeranian puppy named Coco. With her husband Brandt Ashley, whom she's been married to for 18 years, she relishes in making memories with her friends and family through travelling, skiing, concerts, and outdoor pursuits. In addition to her role as the founder of Ashley Aesthetics, she serves as a trainer and Key Opinion Leader for Merz Aesthetics and is an accredited member and trainer for the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine.
