Dr Clark is a member of the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) and he is the Chair of the Council’s Education Committee. He is the deputy chair of the Confederation of Postgraduate Medical Education Councils (CPMEC), and is a member of the Australasian Medical School Accreditation Committee (MedSAC). He has had a career long involvement in furthering medical education at all levels.

Dr Clark chaired the Medical Council of New Zealand’s recent Cosmetic Procedures Expert Advisory Group (EAG), where he led work to strengthen standards and patient safety in this complex and fast-evolving field.

Dr Clark is vocationally registered in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and, until recently, was vocationally registered in Medical Administration and a fellow of RACMA. He is a practicing gynaecologist in Palmerston North, New Zealand.

Dr Clark is a past president of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Dr Clark was a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of a New Zealand District Health Board (DHB) for 17 years, and he chaired the New Zealand Chief Medical Officer group for nine years.
